Description
An avant-garde concert given at the KPFA San Francisco Studio in 1966, organized by Christian Wolff and Robert Moran. The first piece heard is a raucous presentation of John Cage’s famous “Cartridge Music,” in which contact microphones and turntable cartridges were placed or struck against a variety of objects and then amplified. Also included is a sparse work for electric guitar by Morton Feldman, that had previously thought to have been lost until it was rediscovered here. Other featured works include compositions by Nam June Paik, Christian Wolff, Anestis Logothetis, and Robert Moran, as well as a composition for paper by Fluxus artist Benjamin Patterson. This concert represents some of the 20th century's most experimental works by some of its most famous composers, and thus serves as an important milestone in the history of contemporary music.Genres
