Description
Pianist and composer Michael Harrison playing the piano during a rehearsal for, or performance at, the 14th Other Minds Festival held in March of 2009 at the Jewish community Center in San Francisco. Harrison presented the world premier of his work “Tone Clouds” at OM 14. “Tone Clouds” is based on Harrison’s earlier composition for solo just intonation piano, “Revelations,” and shares the previous work’s alternate tuning. Harrison is a well known pianist with a long standing interest in different tuning systems who has designed his own “harmonic piano,” on which he can easily alternate between two different tunings using the same conventional keyboard.
