Description
Seen seated around a table from left to right is Chinary Ung, Catherine Lamb, and Dobromiła Jaskot. all looking down at a musical score that is laying on the table in front of Ung. This was taken during their retreat at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program in Woodside CA, prior to the start of OM 14 in March 2009. Born in Cambodia in 1942, Ung moved to the United States in 1964 where he studied clarinet and composition music at Columbia University. His many works are often marked by the incorporation of traditional Cambodian elements combined with more typical Western orchestral instrumentation. Catherine Lamb is a graduate of CalArts, where she studied with James Tenney, Michael Pisaro, and Stephen “Lucky” Mosko.
Dobromiła Jaskot is a Polish composer and pianist, whose work often incorporates multi-media art, and interactive elements. Her works have been widely played in Europe and she has also taught at the Electoacoustic Studio at the Music Academy in Bydogoszcz.
