Michael Harrison playing the piano, during a rehearsal for OM 14 at the Jewish Community Center in San Francisco CA., in March of 2009. Harrison is a well known pianist with a long standing interest in different tuning systems who has designed his own “harmonic piano,” on which he can easily alternate between two different tunings using the same conventional keyboard. At the third concert of OM 14 Harrison presented the world premiere of his “Tone Clouds” for just intonation piano and string quartet. The 2008 composition was based on a earlier work, “Revelation” for solo just intonation piano.Genres & Subjects
