Description
Charles Amirkhanian and Dane Rudhyar in Rudhyar’s backyard in Palo Alto, CA, 1977.

Born Daniel Chennevière, in Paris in 1895, Rudhyar moved to New York City in 1916 and soon gained a reputation as a composer of modern polytonal music, much of it scored for piano. In addition to music, Rudhyar also had a life long interest in philosophy and mysticism and was a pioneer of modern transpersonal astrology, a subject on which he wrote extensively.
