Description

George Oppen giving a reading in the Arena Theater at Fresno State College (now California State University, Fresno) on Tuesday, May 16, 1967. The group seated on the bleachers to the far right are: Philip Levine, Charles Hanzlicek, and Robert Mezey, poet-faculty members of the English Department (Original image has a pen drawn circle around them). Behind them, (top) sits Charles Amirkhanian. This was the first time Amirkhanian met Oppen.
