A full length portrait of George Avakian, with wife Anahid Ajemian, and Charles Amirkhanian, facing forward, sitting on a couch at the couple's home in Riverdale, Bronx, New York. George Avakian was a famed record producer and writer, and his wife, violinist Anahid Ajemian was a groundbreaking musician, championing works of contemporary composers starting in the 1940's. Charles Amirkhanian, a composer and co-founder of the new music organization Other Minds, was visiting the two in January, 2009. Later that year in November, Other Minds held a retrospective on the American composer Henry Cowell, with two days of concerts and an archival exhibition. Avakian and Ajemian were present as panelists to discuss their work and friendship with Cowell.Ajemian died in June, 2016 and Avakian a year later in November, 2017.
