CCPA (California College of Performing Arts) was founded by Andrew Garling and his then wife Wendy Jester in 1979 and incorporated in 1980. It presented house concerts of new music and Indian classical music mostly, and offered a few classes. Some events were hosted by Other Minds co-founder Jim Newman. When the Garlings moved to Atlanta they left the non-profit in Newman's hands. When Newman and Charles Amirkhanian decided to start a new music organization in 1992, they used CCPA as the sponsoring organization. After the first Other Minds festival in 1993 the name of the organization was officially changed to Other Minds. This collection contains printed posters, concert programs, and seasonal mailings about events presented by CCPA. The physical materials are a part of Other Minds’ organizational archive which resides at the Mc Henry Library’s Special Collections, University of California Santa Cruz.
