Description
The Djerassi Artist in Residence program was founded by the inventor of the birth control pill, Dr. Carl Djerassi. Like the McDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire, the Djerassi Foundation, situated in the Santa Cruz Mountains above the town of Woodside CA, is a place where artists are invited to stay for a month or more to work in peaceful and supportive surroundings. In this program Charles Amirkhanian discusses the Djerassi Artist in Residence program with its Director, Charles Boone, as well as with a number of composers who have participated in the program during its first 10 years of operation. Also heard are a number of compositions that were created in part during the composers stay at Djerassi.Genres
