Description
Ned Sublette introduces a program of five works produced for the broadcast medium by New York composers. These full length, electronic and musique concrète pieces, most of which involve samples from radio and TV broadcasts, provide a fascinating introduction to the experimental music scene of New York during the early 1980s. The composers represented are Peter Gordon, David van Tieghem, Ned Sublette, Maryanne Amacher, Frankie Mann, and the Boris Police Band. This was the first of four nationally broadcast programs, each emanating from one of the four previous host cities of the New Music America Festival, and was meant as a preview to the 1983 Festival which was held in Washington D. C. in October 1983. Please put on the headphones and settle in for two hours of extraordinary electronic soundscapes from the Big Apple.
