Other Minds presented a preview event for its upcoming presentation of Rhys Chatham’s “A Secret Rose,” a piece for 100 guitars that took place later in November of that year. Here, Chatham talks about this composition and how a band of 100 electric guitars rehearses. Questions from the audience are answered and winners of the survey prizes announced. Ava Mendoza, guitarist in the ensemble that night is asked to share her experience. Chatham also delivers some interesting stories about his family background and how he got exposed to minimalist music, and his studies with La Monte Young.Subjects
