Description
A recording of the song “Static,” composed and performed by Sheila Davies, with musical accompaniment provided by Fred Frith and Henry Kaiser. Firmly placed in the genre of avant-garde pop music of the 1980s, this brief yet engaging song is somewhat reminiscent of the work of Laurie Anderson, Pamela Z, and Amy X. Neuburg. It features half spoken lyrics and sparse jazz fusion like instrumentation, all combined with those electronic sounds of a 1980s synth-pop band. This work was originally recorded in San Francisco with the final mix and voice recording with an Effectron done at KPFA radio, and was produced by Charles Amirkhanian with assistance by Susan Stone.
