Description
Charles Amirkhanian introduces recordings of unusual 20th Century music released by the Ocean Records label. The brainchild of composer Allen Strange and friend David Porter, Ocean distributed cassettes of sound poetry, electronic music, Indonesian music, and other salty material, once a month to subscribers. In this program, Amirkhanian highlights Ocean’s Composers’ Cassettes recordings of music by Lou Harrison and Richard Dee (”Suite for Violin with American Gamelan”) and sound poetry by Larry Wendt.
