Description
The fifth concert of the 1981-82 season of the San Francisco Chamber Music Society featured the Telluride Chamber Players performing works by Ernest Bloch, David Sheinfeld, Efrem Zimbalist, Ottorino Respighi, and Gabriel Fauré. Sheinfeld, who was at the concert, provides an introduction for the premiere of his “Threnody” which is scored for solo violin, as well as sharing some of his memories about living in Rome in the early 20th century, where he stuudied with Respighi. Roy Malan who is the violinist of the Telluride Chamber Players also offers some brief remarks on a couple of the featured compositions. This concert was recorded live, on February 22, 1982 at the Fireman’s Fund Forum in San Francisco, by Steve Wolfe.
