The first in a series of concerts featuring Bay Area composers and performers and broadcast live over KPFA. This concert, recorded at the Berkeley Little Theater on February 25, 1963, presents works by Luciano Berio, Pierre Boulez, Salvatore Martirano, Pauline Oliveros, and Arnold Schoenberg, as well as a group improvisation based on a schema by Loren Rush. Performing artists include pianists Dwight Peltzer and Nathan Schwartz, flutist Jean Zeiger Cunningham, baritone Milton Williams (also playing string bass), and percussionists Loren Rush and John Chowning.
