Description
Annie Gosfield (right) examines a musical score while rehearsing one of her works with a member of the Reddrum percussion ensemble (probably Mike McCurdy), prior to a performance at the 5th Other Minds Music Festival in March of 2000. Annie Gosfield (born 1960, in Philadelphia) is a composer based in New York City. Ms. Gosfield studied piano with French jazz pianist Bernard Peiffer and Horowitz student Alexander Fiorillo, and studied composition at North Texas State University and the University of Southern California. A highly versatile composer, Ms. Gosfield has written for large and small ensembles, video soundtracks, dance, and electronic music. She is particularly known for incorporating industrial noises and improvisatory elements and other extended techniques in her compositions.
