David Lang was born in Los Angeles in 1957 and is one of the co-founders of New York’s legendary new music festival, Bang on a Can. He studied with Jacob Druckman, Hans Werner Henze, and Martin Bresnick, and his works have been performed with some regularity around the world. Aki Takahashi is a Japanese pianist who has specialized in performing the works of contemporary avant-garde composers, including a number of compositions written especially for her by such luminaries as John Cage, Morton Feldman & Alvin Lucier. As part of OM 6, Takahashi performed Lang’s “Memory Pieces.”Genres & Subjects
