Description
Richard Teitelbaum, Charles Amirkhanian, Lou Harrison, and Annea Lockwood (l to r), seated around a table during a presentation by Teitelbaum as part of the OM 8’s composers retreat at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program in Woodside CA, prior to their participation in the 8th Other Minds Music Festival, in March of 2002. Richard Teitelbaum is and American composer and musician who has studied with Allen Forte and Mel Powell as well as the Italian composers Luigi Nono and Goffredo Petrassi. While in Italy he joined with Alvin Curran and Frederic Rzewski in founding the pioneering electronic music ensemble Musica Elettronica Viva or MEV. It is for his work with electronic and synthesizer music that he is best known although he has also incorporated Japanese, Indian, and other world music into his compositions.
