Description
Charles Amirkhanian, Werner Durand, and Amelia Cuni (l to r), during their retreat at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program in Woodside CA, prior to the start of the 10th Other Minds Music Festival in March of 2004. Seated around a conference table, Cuni is giving a presentation as the other two are seen listening in the background. Durand is a German composer, instrument builder, performer and eclectic champion of experimental music. Cuni, one of the few Western women to have mastered the classical Indian Dhrupad style of singing, collaborated with Werner Durand, and lighting and stage designer Uli Sigg, in the creation of a multimedia performance art piece “Ashtayama: Song of Hours”, which received its U. S. premiere at OM 10.
