Description
Tigran Mansurian and Kim Kashkashian (l to r), during a rehearsal for their appearance at the 10th Other Minds Music Festival in March of 2004. Tigran Mansurian is an Armenian composer and musician whose works often combine traditional Armenian music with more contemporary classical forms. Mansurian’s oeuvre comprises orchestral works, seven concerti for strings and orchestra, sonatas for cello and piano, three string quartets, madrigals, chamber music and works for solo instruments. Violist Kim Kashkashian has established herself as one of the most accomplished musicians of her generation. She has appeared as a soloists with major orchestras around the world and participated in numerous smaller ensembles. Kashkashian has extensively expanded the repertoire for viola through her continuous relationships with such composers as Krzysztof Penderecki, Arvo Pärt, György Kurtág, and Mansurian.
