Michael Nyman, performing on stage, at the Yerba Buena Center of the Arts in San Francisco as part of the 11th Other Minds Music Festival on February 24, 2005. As part of OM 11 Nyman performed selections from the his soundtrack for motion picture “The Piano” as well as providing accompaniment for Paul Strand’s silent film “Manhatta.” The English composer Nyman first came to prominence as a minimalist composer in the 1970s. He has also composed the music for several films by Peter Greenaway. This was his first appearance in San Francisco since 1994.Genres & Subjects
