The Del Sol Quartet and soprano Cheryl Keller on the stage of the Yerba Buena Center of the Arts in San Francisco as part of the 11th Other Minds Music Festival on February 24, 2005. In this photograph the ensemble is performing Michael Nyman’s “The Ballad of Kastriot Rexhepi.” During OM 11 the Quartet also played Nyman’s “String Quartet No. 3.” and Daniel Bernard Roumain’s “String Quartet No. 4, ‘Angelou’.” The performers are shown (l to r), Rick Shinozaki, violin, Kate Stenberg, violin, Cheryl Keller, soprano, Charlton Lee, viola, and Monica Scott, cello. This was the American concert premiere of “The Ballad of Kastriot Rexhepi,” the text for which was provided by visual artist Mary Kelly, whose installation of a room-sized lint sculpture was the inspiration for the composition.Genres & Subjects
