John Schneider playing the guitar and perhaps singing or talking, during his appearance at OM 14, where he performed his own works as well as compositions by Harry Partch and Ben Johnston. Schneider is perhaps best known for his work with alternate tuning systems and frequently performs on an assortment of well-tempered, re-fretted, and adapted guitars. One of these guitars, a re-fretted National Steel Guitar, is seen in the foreground on the left side of the image. A composer, author and educator, as well as an accomplished guitarist, Schneider was at the time of this Festival in 2009 a professor at Pierce College in Los Angeles and music director of the Just Strings ensemble which specializes in works with alternate tunings.Genres & Subjects
