Åke Parmerud & Renate Hoffleit (l to r), walking on a beach, during an excursion near to the Djerassi Resident Artists Program in Woodside CA, where the featured OM 13 composers were on retreat on March 5, 2008.Swedish composer Åke Parmerud was born in 1953, and has been composing since his early twenties. Educated at the Gothenburg Music Conservatory, Parmerud has written for multi-media, video, film, dance,and the theater, as well as more typical instrumental ensembles. However he is perhaps best known for his electro-acoustic compositions which have won numerous festival prizes and been recorded for a variety of labels. A member of the Royal Academy of Music since 1998, Parmerud is also a teacher of composition and computer music.
Renate Hoffleit is a visual artist and partner of OM 13 composer, Michael Bach, with whom she frequently collaborates on projects.
