“A Proclamation to Frank Zappa” acknowledging his contribution to music and the arts, and “other minds” at large. Signed by all composers from the first Other Minds Festival. Zappa had been battling cancer and passed away a month later on the 4th of December. Letter dated November 2, 1993. One was sent to Frank and family, this is the only other signed original. The assembled composers of the OTHER MINDS FESTIVAL send best wishes to
another Other Mind, Frank Zappa. Thank you for your continuing, inspirational work as
composer extraordinaire. Your investigations into the less-traveled areas of musical
entertainment have inspired several generations of listeners, drawing them into an
involvement with the arts which otherwise might never have been awakened.
