Description
Take a journey through the vineyards of France to the honky-tonks of America. Charles Amirkhanian talks with Kermit Lynch, a Berkeley California based, wine importer extraordinaire, on the subject of French wines and the types of fun one can have when looking for them. Mr. Lynch has documented his experiences in the book, “Adventures on the Wine Route: A Winebuyer’s Tour of France”. This book, which reads like a prose fantasy in parts, is a most engaging compilation of stories on the subject, and it has received wide praise throughout the country. Lynch reads passages from his book and answers questions from the listening public. Topics touched upon include the importance of refrigeration when transporting French wines back to America, the decline of Beaujolais, the threat of development to small vineyards, and many other fascinating details of the wine importing business. Also heard during this program are a number of country and blues influenced rock songs, many of which were written by the multi-talented Lynch and performed by a San Francisco Bay Area band under the direction of Ron Rhoades. This program was recorded on February 17, 1989.Genres
