Description
Recorded sometime around 1966, this is a performance by a young Peter Winkler, of Erik Satie’s well known composition for solo piano, “Trois Gymnopedies.” Winkler, was a student at University of California at Berkeley as well as a worker at KPFA, who later went on to get his Masters at Princeton, and after a stint as a Junior Fellow at Harvard University, joined the faculty at Stony Brook University in New York. A composer as well as educator and concert pianist, Winkler has had a stellar career, and continues to thrill audiences world wide with both his original compositions as well as his extensive repertoire of classical compositions such as the one included here.
