Description
Chip Weitzner was a self-proclaimed hippy composer who owned an organ and recorded hypnotic electro-acoustic pieces in his Berkeley, California studio. He typically referred to his music as work from "The Felicity Facility." In this 1972 composition for electronic organ, “Grand Canyon Sweet,” the relatively unknown composer memorializes the Black Mesa area of the United States that was, according to the composer, under siege and threatened by the Energy Industry and local power structures. The Mesa, which is near the Grand Canyon was part of a vast land considered holy by many Native American tribes that was controversially strip-mined during the 1960s and 70s.
