Description
The 8th concert of the 1971 Cabrillo Music Festival includes works by Julian Orbon, Carlos Chávez, Mozart, and Robert Hughes. In “Radiances for Orchestra with Moog Synthesizer”, of which this performance was the world premiere, Hughes tries to portray images of light, ascribing his inspiration to the “Cantos” of Ezra Pound as illuminated in Donald Davies’ book “The Poet as Sculptor”. The Moog is used discreetly, as just another instrument rather than as a solo voice.
