Description
Charles Amirkhanian interviews percussiionist, vocalist, aavant-garde composer and radio producer, David Moss. Moss combines slashing textured percussion rhythms with an unbelievable voice that veers wildly around language and meaning. In this program Moss discusses percussion and voice as the vanguard of change in contemporary music; his work with children; producing nationally syndicated radio programs on new music; his choice to live in Marlboro, Vermont; and the role of the composer/performer/improviser in the late 20th Century. In addition Moss performed several of his pieces before a live audience, all as part of the San Francisco Exploratorium’s Speaking of Music series hosted by Charles Amirkhanian. This program was recorded on October 9, 1986 by Brenda Hutchinson, edited by Robin Landseadel and produced for radio by Russ Jennings.
