Description
Host Larry Jackson introduces a concert of piano music by Julian White, given as a benefit for the San Francisco Chamber Music Society on March 3, 1973, at the Lone Mountain Theater in San Francisco. The concert begins with pianist Julian White offering a brief introduction to the Variations by Johannes Brahms, before commencing with what he considers one of the most beautiful works for piano, Brahms’ “Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann, Op. 9.” The concert continues with Maurice Ravel’s “Gaspard de la Nuit” which is based on three poems by Aloysius Bertrand, and which is also introduced by the pianist. The concert concludes with an encore of two additional variations by Brahms

Note: Unfortunately the second work of this concert, a sonata by Beethoven is missing.
