Description
An essay on George Antheil, by Hans Heinsheimer and read in German. Heisheimer was a music publishing executive for such firms as Universal Edition, Boosey & Hawkes, and G. Schirmer. While working for Universal Edition in Vienna, Heisheimer headed the opera department where he worked with such composers as Ernst Krenek, Kurt Weill, and of course George Antheil. Heisheimer also wrote numerous articles and essays for such publications as “Music Quarterly”, “Neue Zeitschrift für Musik”, and “Modern Music”, including this review of Antheil’s life and work. Great stuff if you happen to understand German.
