Description
As part of a centenary celebration program during Other Minds 11, Marc Blitzstein’s biographer, Eric A. Gordon gives a brief lecture on the life and legacy of the composer. Gordon is joined by Blitzstein's nephew Christopher (Kit) Davis, & Charles AmirkhanianGordon is the author of “Mark the Music: The Life and Work of Marc Blitzstein”, and co-author of “Ballad of an American: The Autobiography of Earl Robinson”. The director of the Workmen's Circle/Arbeter Ring in Southern California since 1995, Gordon is also a member of the National Writers Union (UAW/AFL-CIO) and the Jewish Labor Committee, and serves on the editorial advisory board of “Jewish Currents” magazine. He sings with the Mit Gezang Yiddish Chorus and with Voices of Conscience, the social action chorus of Los Angeles. As a solo performer he specializes in Yiddish songs, as well as music by Marc Blitzstein and Earl Robinson.
