Composer-to-Composer Festival:1989Description
John Cage picking mushrooms in Telluride, Colorado. Although well known as an avant-garde composer and artist, John Cage was also an expert mycologist who often collected and ate wild mushrooms from around the world. His stories about mushroom hunting often made their way into his performances and lectures, particularly in “Indeterminacy,” and he is even reported to have won money on an Italian quiz show in 1959 based on his voluminous knowledge about fungi.Genres & Subjects
