Description
Source recording for Impact: Innovative Music From the Pacific Coast. Recorded at Club Nine in San Francisco. Host James Goodkind introduces Mark Trayle, and Trayle describes all the instruments and gadgets upon a table and explains the term Guerilla Electronics. The first half of this recording includes three unidentified works by Trayle. The last half begins with an introduction to a recording submitted by Canadian composer Jean François Denis. The tape is played for the audience during a break but not heard here. The rest of the recording includes a preview of the Paul Dresher Ensemble's multimedia work, Slow Fire, and director Richard White talks about the piece's development before introducing a video excerpt. Audio from the video presentation is heard. After the Slow Fire segment, Phil Stone demonstrates some sounds on home computers used in computer music making of the time, including the Apple II, and Commodore 64. As part of the demonstration, a band is gathered to play Phil Stone's piece, Feedback. The group includes members of Musica Ficta Ensemble; Larry Simon, Ron Davis, Victor Spiegel, Barney Jones, and Claude Palmer.

Segments of this recording can be found in the Impact Program No. 2.
