Description
Mari Kimura, the brilliant violinist and composer from Japan is interviewed about her career and her recent composition “U (The Cormorant),” for violin and tape. She also describes some of the challenges of performing music that blends electronics with a traditional instrument. Recorded at just the beginning of her career this interview provides an excellent introduction to a violinist and composer who was soon to go on to develop a bowing technique that allowed her to explore subharmonics on the violin.
