Description
Dutch composer Louis Andriessen has outspoken views on music and society which have thrust him into a leadership role among the musically and politically radical of his country. In this program, recorded on Jan. 1, 1984 as part of the San Francisco Exploratorium’s Speaking of Music series, Andriessen discusses, among other things, his objections to (and fascination with), the music of the American “minimalists”. Several excerpts of his works are also heard, including some of his own minimal and political music. (from KPFA Folio)
