Description
Other Minds Festival 8 took place at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in San Francisco from March 7th through 9th, 2002. Guest composers that year included Ellen Fullman, Takashi Harada, Lou Harrison, Tania León, Annea Lockwood, Pauline Oliveros, Ricardo Tacuchian, Richard Teitelbaum, and Randy Weston. The occasion allowed for honoring and celebrating several of the composer's birthdays: the 85th birthday of Lou Harrison, the 75th of Randy Weston, and the 70th of Pauline Oliveros. Every year before the festival performances, the artists have the opportunity to be in residence together for four days of mutual sharing of music and ideas at the secluded Djerassi Resident Artists Program in the Woodside foothills above Stanford University. Reflections on this experience are often shared during some of the panel discussions that precede the concerts.
