Description
Lester Bowie was best known as co-founder and leader of the Art Ensemble of Chicago from 1968 until his passing in 1999. This tribute concert, a benefit for Jazz In Flight, was organized by Bowie’s daughter Sukari Ivester, co-presented with Other Minds. The concert brought to San Francisco, Art Ensemble members Roscoe Mitchell (reeds), Famadou Don Moye (percussion), and special guests Corey Wilkes (trumpet), James Carter (saxophones), Frank Lacy (trombone), Jon Jang (piano), and Peter Barshay (bass).
