Description
The 1981 New Music America Festival took place at San Francisco's Japan Center Theater and hosted a week full of concerts, sound installations, and multi-media performances. The first concert on Sunday June 7, featured works by Paul DeMarinis, Maggi Payne, Stuart Dempster, Leo Smith and Bobby Naughton Duo, and Terry Allen.

The first performance is Paul DeMarinis' "Songs"; three sections of synthesized vocal experiments utilizing a modified Speak & Spell, drones, and other computerized manipulations and arrangements.
